Hi, I’m Laura (She/Her), the Founder of The Happy `Hood and I’m pansexual.

I found it hard not knowing other pan/bisexual people, especially being in a straight-passing marriage. There is a lot of bi/pan erasure in general and a lot of fetishization of folk who are bi/pan.

So I figured I’d create a space where bi/pan people of marginalised genders can get together and build a bi/pan community. With support and encouragement from Q Space, I set up a little group and we’re going to be meeting in real life! We’ll have discussion topics related to our sexual orientation, gender identity and everything in between.

Since we got involved in the Slow Ways project, we realised that group walking is not only great for physical wellbeing but also for mental wellbeing. We’re all about community connection and we’re keen to bring folk together.

With that in mind, we’ll be meeting every month for a walk!

DATE: The second Sunday of the month

TIME: 10:00am - 11:00am

LOCATION: Meet at the Umbrella Fair Organisation at the Pavillion on The Racecource

If you want to chat, great! If you want to come along and just walk with people but keep to yourself, that’s great too. There’s no pressure of expectations. :-)

Join us for the first EVER Happy `Hood Festival at Delapre's walled garden. We're celebrating our 5th birthday and the launch of issue 20 of The Happy `Hood, our community, good news zine.

FREE and open to all, come down and enjoy:

Free creative workshops for all ages,
An art fair where you can buy prints and crafts from local artists,
Poetry performances from N-Town's finest,

Issue 9 was released into the wild on our 2nd birthday, 19/4/20.

A week later, we'll be having an online event answering your questions, talking about the new issue and celebrating the independent businesses, community groups, charities and people featured in issue 9.

The Happy 'Hood are delighted to welcome one of Ed Sheeran's close pals and who he describes as "one of my three main musical influences", Luke Concannon. The chart topping singer/songwriter, shot to number one with the JCB Song as one half of Nizlopi and has been creating beautiful, inspiring, music for over a decade.

We couldn't be more excited to welcome him back to Northampton. Having experienced Luke play live many times, we promise you will leave feeling replenished and your soul literally soaring.

This is a listening event, so we invite that there be quiet whilst Luke plays. It’s a gift economy gig so you ‘pay what you think it’s worth’.

The bar will be open for refreshments.
